Hussein Mohamed is the Founding Executive Director of the East African Group, a seasoned communications and public relations professional with over a decade of experience in journalism and strategic communications. His expertise includes strategic planning, policy development, security and development, advocacy, partnership-building, and storytelling.
He has held key roles in international organizations, including Communications Consultant at the World Bank Group, Principal Advisor to the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Federal Government of Somalia), Communications Specialist at the Heritage Institute for Policy Studies, Strategic Communications Consultant with UNFPA Somalia, and Multimedia Broadcast Journalist – Digital, BBC World Service.
With extensive international experience, Hussein specializes in crafting impactful communication strategies that drive engagement and influence. Passionate about leveraging communication for sustainable development, he is committed to shaping narratives and fostering lasting impact.
He holds a MA in International Relations (Security and Development) from University of Plymouth, a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations from Makerere University, and a Diploma in Mass Communication and Media Studies from Nairobi Aviation College.
